Making the most of every inch of a room often calls for a completely bespoke approach. For this project, we designed and built a fully fitted shelving unit to transform an otherwise unused wall into a practical and attractive feature.
Making the Most of Unused Space
The shelving was designed specifically for the room, allowing us to maximise the available wall space while working with the existing shape and proportions of the property.
Each section was carefully set out to follow the angle of the ceiling, creating a seamless built-in appearance that feels like it has always been part of the home.
Custom-Made Shelving with Solid Oak Details
All of the shelving was custom made on site to ensure an accurate fit and a high-quality finish.
Solid oak front lips were added to the shelves, providing extra durability while introducing the natural warmth and character of oak. This subtle detail gives the finished unit a distinctive look while complementing the rest of the room.
Integrated Lighting
Integrated electrics were incorporated directly into the fitted shelving, allowing subtle lighting to be positioned throughout the unit.
As well as highlighting items displayed on the shelves, the lighting creates a softer, more lived-in atmosphere within the room, particularly during the evenings. By planning the electrics as part of the overall design, everything could be neatly integrated without compromising the clean finish.
Finished In-House from Start to Finish
The entire project was completed in-house, from the initial construction and fitting through to decorating and final detailing.
Taking care of each stage allowed us to maintain a consistent standard throughout the project and ensure every element worked together as part of the finished design.
The result is a bespoke fitted shelving unit that provides valuable additional storage while becoming a key feature of the room. It’s a great example of how thoughtful design and custom carpentry can transform an awkward or unused area into something both practical and visually appealing.
